'Bones of the Buddha' Documentary

In 2013 Icon Films produced a documentary for National Geographic titled ‘Bones of the Buddha’. The documentary tells the story of the Piprahwa discovery by challenging doubts about Dr. A.A. Führer’s involvement in the find. Historian Charles Allen interviews Harry Falk (professor of Indology at the Freie University in Berlin and one of the world’s leading epigraphists). Falk concludes that the reliquary and its inscription are indeed authentic and that the Piprahwa stupa was built by the Emperor Asoka in approx 245 BCE over the original internment site created by the Sakya clan to house their portion of the Buddha’s remains
